Today we skyped with Sarah our friend from Egypt. It was really cool to ask her all these questions and her being able to answer.

Today in class we helped Mr. Schick learn how to use skype and we skyped with Sarah for a little. She didn't see to thrilled to talk to us but lets hope we get to talk to her tomorrow.

Today most of the students performed their raps that they made up about Egypt. I performed my rap and I also had to sing it while saying it. We also watched the video of Gigi's Revolution. She is trying to kick the leader out while her family is arguing with her about that she is not american and that Egypt is her home town. Almost everyone in the entire country is trying to kick the leader out.

Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt

The ancient Egyptians believed in many different gods and goddesses. Each one with their own role to play in maintaining peace and harmony across the land.Some gods and goddesses participated in creation, some brought the flood every year, some offered protection, and some took care of people after they died. Others were either local gods who represented towns, or minor gods who represented plants or animals. The ancient Egyptians believed that it was important to recognize and worship these gods and goddesses so that life continued smoothly. Some god's names are Ra the God of Sun, Hathor the God of Music, Nut the God of the Sky, and Thoth the God of Wisdom.

Facts on Egyptian Mummification

Mummification is the preservation of a body. It can be either animal or human. They can be preserved in three different ways. They can be preserved wet, frozen, or dried. It can be a natural process or it may be deliberately achieved. By eliminating moisture, you have eliminated the source of decay. They dried the body by using a salt mixture called natron. Natron is a natural substance that is found in abundance along the Nile river. They natron is made up of four different types of salts. Sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and sodium sulfate.
